Involved vehicles are equipped with curtain shield air bags located in the left and right-side roof rails. Each curtain shield air bag uses a “hybrid” type inflator which contains compressed gas in one chamber of the inflator and propellant in another; these chambers are welded together. Some of the inflators may have a minute crack in the weld area, and the crack may propagate overtime, separating at the weld portion. If an inflator separates, the curtain shield airbag may partially deploy, and may increase injury to vehicle occupants.
Customers will be notified by Toyota Motor Philippines Team through an Official Notification Letter and will be invited by authorized Toyota Dealerships for inspection and if necessary, install retention brackets on the Curtain Shield Airbag with a new one at NO COST. Customers may also check if the TOYOTA vehicle is included in any active Service Campaign at https://toyota.com.ph/service-campaign.
Customers with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to perform the necessary vehicle repairs to prevent problems from occurring.
